World Oceans Day competition organised by Chumbe Island

Guidelines for World Oceans Day Art and Video Competition for School Children in Zanzibar

On the occasion of World Oceans Day 2020, Chumbe Island Coral Park is launching a creative art and video competition for local school children.

World Oceans Day 2020 is about growing the global movement to call on world leaders to protect 30% of our blue planet by 2030, called 30×30. By safeguarding at least 30% of our ocean through a network of highly protected areas, like Chumbe Island, we can help ensure a healthy home for all!

Chumbe Island Coral Park is an internationally acclaimed conservation area, hosting a fully protected coral reef sanctuary and forest reserve. As a not-for-profit enterprise, the revenue generated by eco-tourism on the island funds all conservation management and supports Chumbe’s extensive environmental education programmes with local schools and communities in Zanzibar. Operational for more than 20 years, Chumbe is the world’s first financially self-sustaining marine protected area

Chumbe Island is organising this competition to celebrate World Oceans Day and to keep students thinking about the ocean during this time of COVID-19.
