The overall aim of CHICOP is to create a model of financially and ecologically sustainable park management, where ecotourism supports conservation, research and a comprehensive Environmental Education program for local school children and community members.

The reserve is a marine and terrestrial biodiversity hotspot that harbours rare wildlife, as well as a Visitor Center, seven eco bungalows and historical monuments.

International Environmental Education trip to Chum International Environmental Education trip to Chumbe 🏝💙 This week 16 students from the World Maritime University in Sweden visited Chumbe for an EE trip. They are Master students in „Ocean Sustainability“ and were mainly from African mainland and island states such as Seychelles and the Maldives but also Japan and St. Vincent. They went snorkeling, got an introduction to our EE program, visited the forest and the lighthouse and learnt about sustainability during an ecobungalow tour. Thanks for visiting Chumbe – it was a pleasure having you on the island.

Ramadan Mubarak 🌙 Today is the first day of the Ramadan Mubarak 🌙
Today is the first day of the holy month of Ramadan. For the next 30 days our predominantly Muslim team here on Chumbe Island will celebrate this month of community, reflection and prayer and will fast during the day. To relieve our rangers from work during the period of Ramadan, Chumbe engages volunteer Ramadan Rangers every year. Our current volunteers Emi and Kati will be this year’s Ramadan Rangers and take over the guest snorkeling until the Chumbe season is coming to a close beginning of April. Karibuni Kati and Emi to the ranger team! 🤿💙
