inspiring moments and interesting experiences with you.
In

During our closed season we built a new large

01, 2006 A
New Year is here and it is time for us to reflect on
the second half of 2005, to remind us of the memorable
events on Chumbe Island and the wonderful people who
have visited us, on this small unique island in the
Western Indian Ocean. It is also a great opportunity
to introduce new members in the Chumbe Team, while
also showing our appreciation to the members who have
left the team to join other projects.

August 2004
Greetings to you from all Chumbe staff!!!
This
letter has succumbed to Swahili time and is a tad late.
This is due to an unexpectedly busy opening
season and the decision to move office which was a
massive undertaking and we are still in the throes of
it.
The team’s hard work over the last year has
really paid off and Chumbe received three accolades
internationally and nationally in the last six months. more

January 2004
Greetings to you all from Chumbe!!!
It
has been all change within the Chumbe team, with
Eleanor’s departure to study in England.
There have been more staff changes, lots of
activity in the education programme, interesting
conservation initiatives and Chumbe Island was the
star of the African Travel Association Symposium,
during which it was praised in no uncertain terms by
the President of Zanzibar.

Newsletter June 2003
Greetings to you all from Chumbe!!!
As ever, there have been some eventful moments on Chumbe and it seems like just yesterday that we were putting together our last Newsletter!!
The island remains stunningly beautiful and following these latest rains the island forest has leaped to rejuvenated life - with a plethora of vibrantly coloured butterflies inquisitively greeting guests along the paths, energetic red bishops hopping excitedly from tree to tree, kingfishers darting through the mangrove pools and skinks scurrying to feast on the array of little bugs enjoying the fresh vegetation.

Newsletter December 2001
Firstly, we hope that this email finds you all in excellent health and not suffering too much from office parties or freezing temperatures! It is nigh on impossible for us here in Zanzibar to imagine frosty Europe, chilly States or indeed anything except for our current high humidity and soaring temperatures. Well, OK, the grass is always greener and from where many of you are sitting, you are probably longing for our humid hot conditions!
It has been a fun filled and successful year for Chumbe Island. The beauty of the Island itself is relentless and with the improved facilities in terms of comfort and relaxation areas for guests on the island, many a visitor continues to be spell-bound and inspired by this pristine wilderness and unique eco-project. The staff teams in both the office and the island are flourishing and content (if a little weary as the final week of Ramadan fasting takes its toll).
